Sara Sharer

Sara is the Socio-Political Special Interest Group Co-Chair. She is the K-5 English Language Development Coordinator and Reading Intervention teacher at Cedaredge Elementary School in the Delta County School District. Sara is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Colorado Education Policy Fellow. Her experience includes being a founding board member for the first public K-6 Montessori school in Western Colorado, legal advocate for The Legal Center for People with Disabilities, six county area director Part C Individuals with Disabilities Education Act program, and coordinating director of a student choice-based charter school. She was selected as a Fulbright-Hays Scholar to Iceland (2021 and 2023) and is a member of the RAND American Teacher Panel. She also serves on her school district’s Coordinating Council. Sara earned a BA in political science and history from Ripon College, and an MA in curriculum and instruction from the University of Colorado, Denver.
