CoTESOL Awards and ScholarshipsNominations/applications are sought for awards to be presented each year in the fall. An awards committee composed of members of the Executive Board meets annually in October to evaluate nominations. Consider nominating your colleagues for the following awards. Nominations are due by October 1, 2024. In addition, the CoTESOL Board recognizes one presentation at the annual Fall Convention as the "Best of CoTESOL" based on attendee feedback. |
THE VIRGINIA FRENCH ALLEN AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING | Purpose: To honor a teacher who has excelled in classroom instruction and/or has demonstrated creativity in developing materials or a program of instruction. |
THE GLADYS DOTY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION TO THE PROFESSION | Purpose: To honor a member of the profession who has made a significant contribution through research, publication, professional presentations, leadership, public service, or by assuming an active role in educational advocacy. |
THE HOWARD MORARIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP | Purpose: To support a deserving student who is pursuing a degree in a teacher education program in the field of ESL or Bilingual Education. The amount awarded is determined by annual interest earned on the scholarship endowment. |
TRAVEL AWARDS | Purpose: To encourage participation in CoTESOL's Fall Convention by members and non-members who live more than 100 miles from the convention site. |
